The new CD we’ve been tirelessly, well tirelessly at a point, working on has now entered mastering stages. Behind the helm will be renowned mad man, Dave Collins. For all intensive purposes, mad man = masterer. However, I’ve always found “masterer” to be an awkward word, so I use “mad man.” Just a few bands and artists Collins has worked with: Alkaline Trio, Ben Harper, Chris Cornell, No Doubt, Weezer, and even Spinal Tap (yes, we’re serious… and yes, this was his selling point to us). Needless to say, we’re very excited about what should come out of his studio. W00P WooP!

I’ve got two shows coming up in NYC:

Thursday, April 29th

Doors @ 6:30p / Show @ 7:30p
FREE Admission and FREE Appetizers until 7:30p / 2 for 1 drinks!
Je’Bon is a great place for Pan Asian delights as well as some great underground music. Speaking of, this show is part of the Underground Artists (UGA) series. It’s a free show, with free app’s for an hour before showtime, and 2 for 1 drinks specials… Can’t really beat that. I go on at 7:30p sharp.

Saturday, May 8th
Arlene’s Grocery - 95 Stanton St. (btw Ludlow & Orchard)
Doors @ 8:00p / Show @ 10:00p
This is my first time playing at this legendary lower east side venue. I am very excited to be opening up the show for my good friends from Washington DC, “NO SECOND TROY,” as they celebrate the release of their new CD. I go on at 10pm sharp with NST immediately following.

I hope you cool cats can make it out to one of these shows. Or both. That would make you an über cool cat.

1. Well, did you read the title of this update? I, Brooks Lee Wood, resolute that I will keep my fans more up to date on what’s going on with my music via THIS BLOG. I further resolute that these more frequent updates will include relevant pictures and videos to help support the main topics of the blog. ie: Booyah.
2. I feel like 2009 was a year where I just couldn’t show up to anything on time. I am known in my circle of friends as “that guy that shows up at halftime.” So 2010 is gonna be different. I, Brooks Lee Wood, resolute that I will arrive to gatherings, functions, and yes, even my own performances, on time and maybe even a little ahead of schedule, unless of course it’s “one of those” parties in which it is known as being “fashionable” to be late, in which case I will arrive no more than an hour tardy. For the party. Punctuality will be my middle name… After “Lee.”
3. And last but not least: I, Brooks Lee Wood, resolute that I will not have A.D.D. and finish the songs that I start on. One completed song, every single week. You call it inconceivable… I call it… uh… conceivable…

In some “upcoming show” news, I will be playing a short set of my original music on Wednesday, January 27th at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC’s lower east side. I go on at 6pm. This is definitely one of my favorite venues I’ve ever played. Any night of the week, you can see some of the best singer/songwriters in the scene. On top of that, every single show (yes, including mine) is FREE! Never a cover. This will be my third time there and I feel blessed to have them give me such a warm welcome into this new city. PS: according to this blog update, I should have 2 or 3 new songs to share with you all I hope you can make it.

In other CD news, I’m currently listening to John Mayer’s new release, “Battle Studies.” So far, so good… But not sure if it’s going to come close to “Continuum” for me. We’ll see how it grows. Still, definitely worth the money. Get it.

Howdy everyone. First of all, I want to thank everyone for helping me have a packed house for my Googie’s show last week. It was a great success!

The new date to put on your calendar is Tuesday, August 25th. I’m playing another early slot at the legendary Rockwood Music Hall. I’ll be doing a 45-minute set starting at 7:00pm. Word on the street is that there will be some muy importante people in the building that night. After party to follow. Can’t wait to see everyone!
